Meet Wendy Upperton and learn what it means to be part of the Eloura Auxiliary
A familiar face and longtime member of the Eloura Auxiliary, Wendy Upperton has supported Quirindi Care Services for many years.
Wendy’s journey with the Eloura Auxiliary began more than 20 years ago, when she was invited to join after both her mother and mother-in-law became residents. What started as a personal connection quickly grew into a long-standing commitment to supporting residents, families and staff at Eloura.
Over the years, Wendy has remained actively involved, including holding several executive positions within the Auxiliary. She reflects fondly on the supportive nature of the group, noting how reassuring it has always been to know that other members would step in whenever needed. Monthly meetings, she explains, are not just about planning and fundraising, but are also an enjoyable and friendly get together that she always looks forward to.
“Enjoying the lovely atmosphere and knowing that we have played a role in contributing to their comfort and happiness is deeply worthwhile.”
The auxiliary's support takes many forms. Fundraising is a key focus, including selling raffle tickets four times a year and contributing handmade items to the Quirindi Arts and Craft Shop, with all proceeds going directly back into resident wellbeing. Wendy is proud that every dollar raised is used to enhance the lives of those living at Eloura.
Some of Wendy’s most cherished memories come from hands-on involvement with residents. She particularly enjoyed helping with craft days and fondly recalls cooking activities, which were always a favourite for both residents and volunteers alike.
A highlight for the Auxiliary each year is the bi-annual garden party, where members come together to organise morning tea and host a popular trading table. These events not only raise valuable funds but also strengthen connections between residents, staff, families, and the wider community.

Through her many years of involvement, Wendy has formed lasting friendships and a strong sense of belonging. She believes the Auxiliary offers something special – a chance to give back in a meaningful way, while feeling supported and connected as part of a caring community.
