Residents are currently enjoying in our Country Reading Group where they gather weekly to listen to Australian short stories and poetry. Residents and staff were thrilled to welcome Hephner to Eloura recently, as he stopped by on his 18-day tour. The quirky fellow seemed to enjoy the interaction as much as the residents, relishing the pats and cheerful comments.

Residents are embracing the creative world of scrapbooking. They enjoy collecting photographs and transforming them into long-lasting keepsakes, with the help of staff and volunteers.

Managers from Apollo Care’s alliance of communities came

together for two days to reflect on our journey so far, and plan

for the future.

Susan hopes to support opportunities that enhance residents’ day-to-day experiences and contribute positively to life at Eloura. She believes it is important that residents have access to a range of activities and experiences that keep them engaged, mentally stimulated and socially connected. For Susan, these types of opportunities play a vital role in helping residents maintain a sense of purpose, enjoyment and connection with those around them.

A familiar face and longtime member of the Eloura Auxiliary, Wendy Upperton has supported Quirindi Care Services for many years. 

Wendy’s journey with the Eloura Auxiliary began more than 20 years ago, when she was invited to join after both her mother and mother-in-law became residents. What started as a personal connection quickly grew into a long-standing commitment to supporting residents, families and staff at Eloura.

Here at Eloura, each day brings moments of connection, joy and plenty of laughter.

Our residents have recently enjoyed some special experiences, including a wonderful outing to the Quirindi CWA Disability Disco at Club Quirindi. The afternoon was filled with singing, Christmas carols and live entertainment from Kevin Spencer, making it a memorable and uplifting event for everyone involved.

The integration of Quirindi Care Services Limited (QCSL) into the Apollo Care Alliance continues to progress smoothly, marking a new chapter for the organisation. At the recent AGM, outgoing Chair Mike Lomax reflected on a year of change, community support, and the successful merger that secures the future of Eloura, the Villas and the Gables.

Quirindi Care Services marked its 51st year with a special community morning tea, bringing together residents, staff, families and supporters to celebrate more than five decades of care, compassion and community spirit. The event reflected on QCS’s humble beginnings, honoured the many hands that helped shape it, and looked ahead with optimism following its new partnership with Apollo Care.

Quirindi Care Services (QCS) secured a more sustainable future for the local community by joining specialist regional aged care provider, Apollo Care. This followed a special general meeting held last month where members of QCS voted in favour of joining this alliance of 14 aged care communities across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Today, IHCA provides a broad range of allied health services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, podiatry, and speech pathology. The business also supplies innovative health products - from exercise equipment and falls-prevention sensors to advanced pressure care cushions.

At Quirindi Care Services, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible people working in aged care across Australia – the quiet achievers who show up every day with compassion, care, and commitment. 

Cathy Halsted is a valued member of the Clinical Care Team at Quirindi Care Services, working as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN). Known for her warmth and compassion, she’s described by General Manager Kim Riley as “an amazing advocate for our residents, mentor, and support to her colleagues.” 

We are thrilled to introduce Georgia Ellis, our new Nurse Practitioner at Quirindi Care Services (QCS), whose passion and dedication is already making a significant impact on the lives of our residents. Georgia brings a wealth of experience in geriatric medicine, combined with a  commitment to providing personalised healthcare.  

Cassie Picton brings warmth, energy and a sense of genuine care to the Quirindi Care Services team. As a trained Assistant in Nursing (AIN), she plays a vital role in meeting the day-to-day needs of residents - from personal care and medication support to mealtime assistance and simply helping residents reach their goals. 

When healing takes time, the right care makes all the difference.

At Quirindi Care Services, we understand that wounds in older adults often need more than time to heal—they need the right support.

Through our partnership with Wound Rescue, we bring specialist wound care directly to our residents, helping to reduce pain, improve healing, and prevent complications before they arise.

By combining expert clinical input with support for nutrition, mobility and comfort, this collaboration is improving outcomes and quality of life for the people who call QCS home.

It’s a practical, resident-focused approach to care that’s making a real impact.

Keeping Active and Connected: Eloura Featured on NBN News

We’re proud to share that our weekly fitness program at Eloura has been featured on NBN News!

Led by local wellness coach Drew Ronacher, these sessions are helping residents stay physically active, mentally strong, and socially connected. It’s all part of our commitment to supporting a full and thriving life in aged care.

The segment also highlighted the maiden voyage of our new community bus, which is now helping residents get out and about, enjoy local outings, and stay engaged with the wider Quirindi community.
