Staff Spotlight: Cassie Picton - A Spark of Joy at QCS 🌼

Cassie Picton brings warmth, energy and a sense of genuine care to the Quirindi Care Services team. As a trained Assistant in Nursing (AIN), she plays a vital role in meeting the day-to-day needs of residents - from personal care and medication support to mealtime assistance and simply helping residents reach their goals.

For Cassie, the job is about more than tasks.

It’s about making their days just that little bit better by making them smile and feel happy
— Cassie Picton

Cassie’s journey into aged care began in 2014 when she started her studies to become a qualified AIN. She spent six years in home care before relocating to Quirindi from Newcastle with her husband and daughter. Formerly a retail assistant manager at Golo, the move marked a rewarding new chapter - and eventually led her to Quirindi Care Services.

Joining the QCS team was her first experience in a residential aged care facility.

I wasn’t sure what to expect but the staff were welcoming and helpful with getting to know the residents
— Cassie Picton

Cassie plays an active role in maintaining a safe and respectful environment at QCS -from ensuring residents have the right equipment, reminding them to use mobility aids, and communicating daily needs clearly with the team.

What makes QCS so special?

For Cassie, Quirindi Care Services feels more like a family than a workplace.

The residents, the environment and all the staff – we’re more like a big family. I enjoy coming to work and seeing all the residents smiling and happy.
— Cassie Picton

One of Cassie’s proudest moments at QCS was being nominated by residents for the ‘Flower of the Month’ - a heartfelt recognition of her kindness and care. Working in aged care often means you’re always focused on supporting others, so this recognition meant a lot to Cassie.

Growing with the Quirindi Community

Living and working in Quirindi has had a meaningful impact on Cassie, helping her grow both personally and professionally.

I’ve learned that I’m a strong, independent, caring and bubbly person. I love helping people wherever I can — both in the facility and out in the community.

Thank you, Cassie, for the compassion and joy you bring to Quirindi Care Services. 💛
